THEATRE NEWS APRIL, 2006

Tuesday, April 24 - Several theatres are getting ready to cast their upcoming 2006-2007 seasons, and the Equity LORT D Contracted Pearl Theatre Company is one of them.  With equity principle auditions schedule May 1, 8 and 15 - all from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., actors should be getting ready for this one.  Plays include Arms and the Man, School For Wives, Toys in the Attic, The Cave Dwellers, and Biography.  Auditioning actors should keep in mind that many roles will be cast with members of Pearl Theatre's resident company members, but that many roles will still be open to the general public.  The minimum pay is $536 per week, as dictated by Equity.  Actors planning to audition must have two separate classical monologues prepared.  They should be very brief, and should consist of a Shakespearean piece and a verse piece.  In attendance at the auditions will be Artistic Director, Shepard Sobel, and Casting Director, Craig Evans.  No appointments are being given ahead of time; Therefore, actors should plan to arrive early and be prepared for a long wait.
