HEADSHOT PACKAGES
People often ask me
why I charge lower than normal rates, when I could be charging more.
The simple answer is I don't have to. I don't have the high overhead that
other photographers with large expensive studios have. Although I will do
studio shots, I primarily shot on location. Secondly, since I'm an actor
myself, my conscience simply won't allow me to charge $700 or more for
headshots, especially knowing each actor will also have to pay for
reproductions, and sooner (more than later), update their look again.
Since all
reproduction facilities work from digital files these days, there is no need for
printed 8x10's (unless you want them for your scrapbook), which also saves you
money. That being said, all headshots are saved on CD in two 8x10
proportional sizes for both printing and sending emails. Each shot
is saved in both color (black and white is optional), and includes retouching.
Final headshots are saved in both jpeg and tiff formats. This
amounts to six files per headshot. Here's the breakdown of what you
will get on your final CD.
Each headshot comes in:
1 large color .jpeg
(for the Web)
1 small color .jpeg
(email
attachments)
1 large color .tiff
(for
professional reproductions)
Large jpegs
can be used for sending headshots as attachments to your email or on your
website, while
small jpegs are great for sending your headshots in the body of an email.
Having the file sizes already saved to disk saves you a lot of time from
having to change them each time you send an email. Tiff files are
what you will take to the printer for printing 8x10 hard copies. Most
photographers don't provide you with this many files.
Since it is
important you get feedback on you proofs, we will not pick out your
headshots immediately after the shoot. Rather, I will have all of
your proofs posted on the Web on your own personal page of this website
within 24 hours.
You can then sort through them on a computer and get feedback from your
friends and colleagues.
You get an
unlimited amount of shots when using digital, so no worries on getting it
right the first time. We will periodically stop to look at your
pictures in the camera to make sure we are getting what you want.
LOCATIONS
I prefer to do all headshots
on location for several reasons. I think that natural setting can lend much more to
one's personality and in showing a more natural look. Well exposed
natural sunlight is much more flattering than studio lighting anyways.
However, I am open to shooting in my studio in Brooklyn Heights.
If there is
a location in the Manhattan/Burroughs area that you really love just let me
know. I am always up for a new location...it keeps things fresh!
Otherwise, I know of some really neat places that we can go (convenient
for you of course), including
Central Park, Fort Tryon Park and what I believe to be the most beautiful
neighborhood in all of New York City, Brooklyn Heights. We
will talk about it ahead of time, meet up for coffee, and decide on a place that you are
comfortable just being yourself.
For men, clothing changes
are not such an issue. For women, this can be a little more touchy. That
said, every location I shoot has accessible clean restrooms nearby for
clothing changes if need be. If you plan on doing independent films, you
better get used to it!
